| I was born in 1945 in New York City and grew up in Connecticut where I was an art educator for 32 years. I studied painting at the University of Connecticut School of Fine Arts earning a BFA in 1967, did graduate work in painting at The Hartford Art School of The University of Hartford and earned a MS degree in art education from Southern Connecticut State College in 1972. I am now a full time painter working from my home studio in Red Lodge, Montana, as well as painting weekly with a group of painters known as The Painted Ladies. During the summer months The Painted Ladies work as plein air painters with other local artists and have become known as The Beartooth Plein Air Society. As an oil painter, Montana provides endless landscapes and subject matter while oil paints provide the texture, workability, richness and subtleties that bring depth to my work. My work is all about composition and flow leading you in and through my paintings. I am a member of the Carbon County Arts Guild, Billings Art Association, Cody Country Art League, and the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts. My work can be seen at The Cody Country Art League in Cody, Wyoming,Whitebird Gallery in Absarokee and The Carbon County Arts Guild and Depot Gallery in Red Lodge. Visitors are welcome at my studio/gallery. "Studio 78", located at 911 Hwy 78, Red Lodge. I will be featured at the Depot Gallery in August of 2010. I had 4 pieces accepted into the Rocky Mountain Regional Juried Exhibition in April and was a featured artist at the Cody Country Art League in May. Other shows I plan to participate in this season include the Cody Art League show in June , the CCAG All Members Show in July as well as well as being a live auction artist for" Art in the Beartooths " on July tenth. The night before , I will be a featured artist at Whitebird Gallery in Absarokee-reception 5-8PM. The Beartooth Plein Air Society will have a show in the fall at the Depot Gallery . I will be teaching a plein air painting workshop on August 21st-sign up ASAP! I would love to meet you ,so come on out to these great art events! |
